How To determine the correctness of the composite instance state from EM

The most difficult is to find out if the instance state shown on the EM is correct or wrong. There are lot of permutation and combinations of state is available. Till 11gPS4 both the backend state and the EM state was in sync. but in the latest release 11gPS5 EM shows the instances state in 3D form.
